I am glad that it is metal because it is what I was looking for after finding that plastic feeders give cats Kitty Acne under their chin (black flaky stuff under their chin after eating or drinking from plastic). Disappointed, and my cats might mutiny I wanted to love this food dispenser. Having two high maintenance cats who act as though they’ve been abused and starved if they can see any part of the bottom of the food dish (never mind that there’s still plenty of food left), I thought this was the perfect solution. Not great for needy cats Buying anything for our cats is a bit of a gamble, as they’re super picky and hate change. I bought the larger size of this feeder, and our little cat (8-10 pounds) took to it immediately. Our big cat (13 pounds) isn’t a huge fan. The bowl itself isn’t very large–Thor (big cat) has to tilt his head to fit his face comfortably in there. On top of that, it doesn’t actually dispense the food very well.
