It’s pretty powerful, so that is the trade off I called around to get a quote on how much a haircut would cost for my labradoodle pup. It ranged from $70 – $85. Yikes!!! I have never cut a dog’s hair before. I have only used it once, and already got my money’s worth. It’s quiet, cuts hair well. It comes with a carrying case, oil, brush to keep them sharp. Started great but finished terribly and they can no longer be used on our dog. Returning to Amazon. I’ve had a pair of Wahl clippers for over 20 years that have worked perfectly every time. My experience is what drove me to purchase this pair in preparation for cutting our Golden Doodle for the first time. I oiled the blades out of the box and everything seemed fine. The pet clippers didn’t seem any more quiet than my 20 year old pair. I started with the longest guard and my pooch’s rear legs and hind area. Things went pretty well. GREAT little workhorse for the price For a “cheap” set of clippers these are great. I originally got them to trim Border Collies’ leg, stomach, tail, and bushy butt hair to keep them from dragging so much sand and dirt in the house. They do great for that purpose. They do heat up after a while but I bought a can of the cooling lube spray for the blade, and also have two of these clippers so can set one aside for the motor to cool. They seem rather loud but I don’t know how the noise compares to other clippers…
