Sorry, Kitty, no more Gerbils for you This lid has solved a stressful problem for us! My daughter got a pair of gerbils, and our cat is VERY motivated to play with and/or eat them. He has figured out how to open the cage latches, he has tried pushing the entire cage off the table where it sits, he has torn through a screen lid. (Luckily, the gerbils have 9 lives, not the cat!) I finally found this lid and it is exactly what we needed. The lid is very tough screening, and can support the weight of a 15 pound cat jumping on it…
Does just what you expect. These fit nicely over my 20, 29 and 37 gallon turtle tanks. The inconvenience of lifting a screen cover for feeding and general handling with fixed screens is gone for good. The hinged screen is easy to lift and the fixed side is strong enough to hold my basking day and night lamps.
The price is painful, but the product is worth it. It is so convenient to not have to unload all of the lamps I have on my beardies tank. Instead, I scoot them all to one side of the screen and can easily give him food and water without even waking him up at night. It’s a great product, although certainly more money than I really would like to spend on something like this. Anyway, it’s worth it if you prefer convenience or need the convenience in order to stay motivated towards giving your reptiles the best care and attention.
